Greg Stowell

Dr. Greg Stowell joined the Garrison Union Free School District on July 1, 2024.  Dr. Stowell’s career in education spans two decades. Having recently served as Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services for the Eastchester Union Free School District, Dr. Stowell had been at the forefront of developing and implementing multi-tiered systems of support. His focus has included improving school guidance services, helping advance the Science Of Reading for all students, ensuring social-emotional learning is a priority, and expanding and enhancing the delivery of pupil personnel services.

Previously, Dr. Stowell held the role of Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel & Educational Services at the Mahopac Central School District, where he supervised Pupil Personnel Services, school nursing, and the technology department.  Dr. Stowell led the District to a 1:1 Chromebook platform for all students in grades K through 12.  Dr. Stowell co-created the “Breakthrough Classroom'' pedagogical framework that provided professional development to all teachers on innovative and student-centric teaching strategies. These strategies allowed students to think critically and engage in deep and authentic learning that develop next-generation skills and readiness.  In addition, Dr. Stowell developed and implemented numerous innovative therapeutic programs.  All of these initiatives were instrumental in fundamentally transforming the district’s educational landscape.  While in Mahopac, Dr. Stowell also served as the Chief Emergency Response Officer and the lead COVID Administrator.

His varied roles as Director of Special Services and Health Services at the Byram Hills Central School District, as well as his time as an elementary educator and middle school administrator, have all informed his educational philosophy. His approach is rooted in progressive and innovative instructional practices, inclusivity, and the belief that every child deserves a high-quality education that maximizes every student’s potential.

Dr. Stowell holds a Doctorate of Professional Studies in Information Technology for Educational Leaders from Pace University, an M.S. in Education: Administration and Supervision, also from Pace University, and a B.S. in Education: Special and Elementary Education from the State University of New York, College at Geneseo.
